What a lovely, beautiful, human story. Those characters felt so real.
Also, as a South Jersey native…this was such a TREAT!!! I graduated from Rancocas Valley and went to the Moorestown mall all the time! I still do haha…it was so endearing to read a book that took place one or two towns over from me🥹 no one ever writes about Lumberton or its surrounding areas🥹🥹🥹

I thought the main characters in this book were very likeable and three dimensional, although the pacing felt strange in a few places. However I was definitely entranced by their story and, although there was conflict and family drama, it was a surprisingly low stress read

This is a 4.5 stars book for me just because of how predictable feel the resolution of the conflict. Even with that issue this is a beautiful, worthy and special book.
The writing let you feel the deep emotions of the characters. I cried one or two times, but also felt so full of joy and expectation with other parts.
I love the way this characters were constructed, their duality makes them feel more human and their flaws give them just the right space to grow and develop together.
An incredible experience for me, hope to read more of this author.

I almost feel like I’m giving this book a low rating even though there wasn’t anything particularly wrong with it. 3.5 stars just feels right to me. I definitely enjoyed this book but I couldn’t quite get into it like I hoped I would. I can’t pinpoint why either.
One thing that was kind of a con for me was the amount of ‘dude’s, ‘bro’s, and ‘man’s. I understand and agree with why they were included, those words just didn’t sit well with me in the romantic context. That said, I absolutely picked up The Long Run for the tagline: A bro-meets-bro love story. And the cover is amazing! The nicknames Bash the Flash and the Italian Yeti were some highlights too.
Overall, I felt like the BROmance and overpowered the ROmance. This book does deal with insecurity, sexual identity questioning, and toxic/complicated family dynamics EXTREMELY well and I’m still glad I read it!
