A pretty interesting look at dishonesty - covers questions like What is a lie? Why do people tell lies? Types of lies or misinformation in daily life - little white lies, advertising, media, medicine (like placebos), and ways to spot a lie.
informative medium-paced

Really well written and illustrated book on lying that is fascinating to middle grade students. After reading I did the child test by casually leaving the copy on the dining table and it disappeared into a child's room - sure fire way of knowing it would appeal!

Sometimes the truth - and a lie - isn't as black and white as you might think. This short, humorous book explores a not-so-cute topic. The reader learns the whats, hows, whys, whens, and wheres of lying.

Funny illustrations and short bursts of text make for a quick read. Plenty of examples and research underscore the informational nature of the book. Whether it will turn the reader into a better fibber or inject a healthy dose of skepticism into the more naïve remains to be seen, but whether by nature or by nurture, lying is an unavoidable aspect of life.
