Marriage of convenience. What more can i ask for ? Lol. Sebastian, a playboy, is proposed by Evie who seeks marriage for protection from her family. But later on he starts getting personally involved in the club she owns and in her life. Smut is there so read with caution. Loved the small tiny jokes between them.

This was another fun read, I really enjoy this series (and I’ve read them in an absolutely ridiculous order 😂).

This one is about Evie and she comes off kind of quiet, a bit demure but she really goes for what she wants. She wants to be able to go take care of her father who’s dying but her uncles that she lives with won’t let her, they’re abusive and controlling. So she hatches a plan to ask notorious rake Sebastian to marry her so she can be free to do as she pleases. I honestly feel like he was just bored and curious so he agrees. They had an interesting relationship. She gained a bit more boldness and with her he finally found things to care about (slowly falling in love with her but also managing her father’s club). Lol this man, she asked him if he’d ever thought about getting a job and he was like why the devil would I do that and then proceeded to inspect every inch of her fathers club when he walked in the door and suddenly he had ideas and things.

For the most part I did enjoy his progression. He started out not caring about anything or anyone but developed feelings throughout the book and realized feelings are okay. He did do a couple questionable things at the start like trying to initiate sex while she was sleeping just after they were married (really Sebastian) to which she did end up reciprocating but she was asleep, just cause you’re married doesn’t mean you can take liberties especially when this is a marriage of convenience and then he called her a bitch when she wouldn’t sleep with him again and I was just like well that was rude and uncalled for. But like I said throughout the book he got better.

Solid historical romance. Loved Evie! Hated Sebastian lol. I can see why it’s an absolute staple in the romance community and with Kleypas superfans, but it wasn’t anything *fantastic* to me. That isn’t really a surprise though, unfortunately Kleypas never hits like she seems to for others. But I will definitely continue in the series to finish it off. Random side note- there is absolutely no correlation (as far as I can tell) to the title and it being set during that season. I didn’t get ANY winter vibes from this story *sigh* oh well.

If Devil In Winter ever gets anything less than a five star rating from me, call the police because I have been kidnapped, held hostage, and forced to rate this book lower.

There is NOTHING I wouldn't do to go back in time and reread this book for the first time all over again. Literally NOTHING. I'd sell my kidneys...BOTH of them.

Sebastian Challon is literally THE EPITOME of what a romance hero should be. Dreamy, sexy, sarcasticly witty, and a full on simp for his woman. The way Evie had him in the palm of her hand from the first moment he saw her in his drawing room...ooooh man.

He was hurting for her before he even realized what was happening and I was THERE FOR IT ALL. I wanted more.

If Sebastian, Lord St. Vincent has no fans I am dead.
If Evie, Lady St. Vincent has no fans I am dead.

IF LISA KLEYPAS HAS NO FANS I AM DEAD.

This book is everything to me and my all time favorite HistRom. It's the book everything else is always measured against. And so far...nothing has even come close.

You want to know what reading the perfect book is like?

READ THIS IMMEDIATELY because it literally DOES NOT GET BETTER THAN THIS.

I use the CAWPILE Review method for my reviews (see explanation here), just to keep me honest and help me understand what exactly I liked/didn't like. My ratings are below.

Idk... I just like reformed rakes. The state of medical knowledge in early Victorian era explored in this book was also super interesting.
