Bartholomew is top tier.. There are so many words to describe how much I enjoy reading him that I just can’t figure out how to say what’s going on in my brain .. I wasn’t sure if I was going to like him coming into this book but his broodiness has truly grown on me. His relationship with Laura just works in all the right ways. I wasn’t ready for this book to end the way that it did but the unexpected twists in Penelope’s books are always amazing. I can’t wait to see how book two unfolds and how things turn out between Laura and Bartholomew!

The Queen of dark romance does it again!
Penelope’s latest offering follows Bartholomew’s quest to overthrow the Skull King and take his territory. What’s the best way to get to him? Hmm, he has an estranged daughter. Ding, ding, ding.

The thing I love about Penelope’s heroines are that they can go toe to toe with the most ruthless druglord, they call out the hero’s BS and they are also as sexually open as the Hero. Well…maybe exactly as they Hero but I like that they are comfortable with their sexuality.

This does end in a cliffy (and what a cliffy, indeed). Luckily the second book is out next month and I can’t wait!

Wow - what is the lesser of two evils? Family that will force you to struggle or a stranger that will make you scream but will not give you his heart. Bartholomew is basing his entire life on revenge and power, but when he meets his nemesis' daughter Laura things change in a heart beat. The power struggle is real and the story will have you on the edge of your seat. The ending will make you yell at your kindle but will leave you wanting more. I cannot wait to see where this goes next.

Bartholomew is a drug dealer who is multi faceted he’s tough, he’s ruthless, yet he can be extremely thoughtful, loyal and loving. Bartholomew wanted to take over the drug trade in Italy in fact he wants to rule all of Europe. So he decides to use the Skull Kings daughter to conquer Italy, however she is estranged from her father. When these two meet it is electric. She agrees to have one night with him, because she didn’t want to be involved with any criminals like her father, but Bartholomew was able to rock her world and that one night becomes many. Laura has been through a lot in her life and it has made her strong and capable. Bartholomew is drawn to her, she is unlike any woman he has been with. They agree to become monogamous and have some sort of quasi relationship. There will be no mention of love or commitment but they are each other’s partner. There are a lot of steamy, sexy, heart racing, sweaty moments between these two. Their relationship was a true partnership even in the bedroom. In between all this sex Bartholomew is still working on taking down the Skull King. This was a interesting, action packed book. However, the book ended with a cliffhanger. Does Bartholomew take over Italy? Do Bartholomew and Laura stay together? I am eagerly awaiting book 2 called Barbarian.

Fantastic story

I did NOT see that ending coming… my hands grab for book two. Bartholomew was a maniacal read… I didn’t want to put it down. OTT possessive man and a sweet woman makes for a angsty and satisfying read! The author has out done herself! I loved it!
