An entire book designed around an origami trick-- not enough to build a narrative. I did like graphic novel titles hidden on the girl's bookcase.
This pirate story is kind of like a fold and cut tale, but it's a pirate story told in origami. The directions to do the origami folds are in the back of the book. I love the idea of abridging this story and using it in storytime!
For older kids. Once upon a time, there was a pirate girl who, like her pirate grandfather, sailed the seven seas. One day, she received an unusual letter from him and a treasure map. Will the pirate girl succeed in her quest to claim the mysterious booty her grandfather has left for her? And is that the only discovery awaiting her on the journey? A creative combination of paper folding how to and adventure story.
I remember hearing a story like this growing up. A young girl goes on a grand adventure to find a treasure. She climbs mountains, explores valleys, and explores caves. She finds a boat and gets shipwrecked, only to find her treasure at the end. A beautifully illustrated origami story.
