I gave this a 4.75

It was such a wonderful story. Honestly, it was so sweet and then the heartbreak. I knew it wasn’t going to be happily ever after about half way.

I was sad when they broke up but I was utterly devastated with Parker died. I knew his parents were going to hurt him worse than anything.

I cried while Noah reading Parker’s letter and his finale visit to his grave.

I hope to learn that Noah is okay. I know he will never forget Parker but still. I felt that it just ended and I wish for more closure a bit.

But that’s life, I guess. I am still going to read the second book but thank you for making me ugly cry.

As I write this I'm still sobbing over this book. It's 2.30am and I didn't expect to stay up late to finish it hoping to get a happy ending, and although in some ways there is some hope it is a painful reminder that the practices in this book are still legal. The ones that take Noah's best friend and boyfriend away, the ones that take away all joy and happiness and acceptance of someone's identity. It's cruel and I didn't expect this book to end like it did, but I think that shows my own privilege of growing up in a somewhat accepting family and not having to experience the things Parker did.

To Jordan Greene, thank you for writing this beautiful book. I read it after Every Word You Never Said and the tones are certainly different but I love it as much. I also love the BVB band references, my teenage self is happy.

To any queer teenager, or person out there that has dealt with an unaccepting family I am sending the biggest hug. Know that you are beautiful and loved by so many, even if you don't get to hear it often. Never stop loving.

Ok, this review is definitely not grammatically correct as I'm still writing through tears, but damm this book has left a mark on my soul

A book that starts as a sweet love story that turns into unnecessary heartbreak.
