Very funny indeed. Oh, those Mitford women!!

I actually listened to an audiobook of this from the Listening Books library, which is for people who find reading actual books difficult due to a disability of some kind, for me that is visual.

I really didn't enjoy this book, it went in one ear and straight back out of the other one, I didn’t connect with any of the characters. It was picked as our book for December because we wanted a book that was seasonal but didn’t want A Christmas Carol.

Less about a Christmas. More about the virtues of not marrying for love. One of her earlier books; I feel like here Mitford started to understand character well but was still a bit missing on plot. But the, so often pretty savage, humour is already there. Recommend reading during a dreary winter day when you’re being disappointed by relationships and starting to accept you should probably just marry for money

This was the Christmas choice for our book club. Unfortunately, it contained none of the festive cheer, spiritual renewal or cosy mystery usually represented in books about this season. There were some witty one-liners and fun character descriptions but the tone felt pompous, superficial and apathetic. Not for me!

Fun, but didn't enjoy it as much as the other Nancy Mitford novels I've read.

Uma deliciosa comédia social, que mostra uma sociedade inglesa egoísta, ociosa, pouco inteligente, com falta de moralidade e carácter.

This book is bitingly funny. I find it hard to believe people have ever acted in such a ridiculously over-the-top fashion, but I was laughing too hard to care. Some parts of it I read aloud to a friend, which I can only recommend. I cared about none of the characters, but then I wasn't meant to. The book is a perfectly crafted farce.
