Great photography book, lots of useful information presented in an easy-to-understand manner.
Fantastic book if you are new to DSLR cameras. The author de-mystifies the complex terms and allows you to make minor adjustments and get tack-sharp shots. I'm looking forward to reading Volume 2 once I put these tips into play.
I so enjoyed this book. The author has excellent humor, is very clear in his directions, and doesn't muddy the waters with complicated explanations and exposition that can be had in almost every other photography book out there. I intend to study the complicated stuff, but for someone who wants to start applying concepts now, without feeling particularly compelled to know all of the whys right now, this book is brilliant. I highly recommend it to any person who is an amateur photographer with professional ambitions.
This book was pretty good. I was a bit above the level it's aimed at - he's aiming at beginners with a DSLR. Despite that the book was full of good tips and I did learn some good things about my camera from it.
Now I gotta finish the Lightroom book and find more treasures in that program!

Really interesting books with a lot of useful tips. Definitely worth getting if you've an interest in photography and are just starting out.
Particularly if you have a low budget as it gives a lot of places/websites where you can buy reasonably priced equipment without going bankrupt XD

Very handy and clever. Love the "recipes." At times a bit overly simplistic, but perfect for those with basic photography questions.
This book while basic was very informative yet enjoyable to read. By breaking down shots and various other information into a single comprehensive paragraph, the reader is not overwhelmed with information overload. I enjoyed this book and look toward to the next two in this series.
I recently got my first DSLR camera and have taken a few private photography lessons. My instructor recommended Scott Kelby as a good author for photography books and this is the first one I picked up. Very good, practical information that gave me a lot of good ideas about how I can improve my photos.
A quick read with some entirely new ideas. The idea that, when shooting forests, you can eliminate the ground. The idea of a portrait shot from calf height.
The importance of tack sharp. Of getting the eyes in focus (wildlife, babies). Of using a tripod. Of taking landscapes at dawn and dusk.

This is a fantastic resource. The author has a great way of explaining the 'how to' in a conversational tone that is helpful and makes perfect sense. I learned a great deal from this book. I'm more excited than ever to take my camera out and shoot. Looking forward to reading more of [a:Scott Kelby|53283|Scott Kelby|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1303989350p2/53283.jpg]'s other books.
