Audiobook - Hoopla
Dual narration

Grief • Dealing with Loss • Healing • YA Romance secondary

Nothing can quite compare to Poppy & Rune’s story. Their tragic love, heartache and resilience coming to terms with a terminal illness just pulls at the heart but this book has its place too.

Whilst it may be triggering for those who are in the midst of processing their own grief this may be really healing and helpful too. Their journey to healing along with the beautiful cultural traditions they experienced really opened my own eyes and brought comfort. Whilst the first half was a bit hard to get into and Caels aggressive repetitive attitude was polarizing the last 35% brings it all together.

I adored that Poppy had left a journal for Savannah to help her heal when she was ready. Oh and the chapters with Rune’s surprise visit just made me teary.

This book won’t be for everyone and I highly recommend reading the synopsis as this story is purely surrounded by grief.

I will say it did take me a while to warm up to Cael, his narration was a tad distracting.

Sobbed through the entire book. This is one of the rare occurrences where I reside more with the second book more than the first. Both were great, but Savannah and Cael just did it for me.

This book is honestly just the author trying to capitalize off of an amazing book with an unnecessary spinoff. If you don’t want to ruin A Thousand Boy Kisses for yourself don’t read this book.

I can’t count the amount of times I rolled my eyes while reading; I feel like this book was written for angsty 12 year olds.

I honestly feel like Savannah and Cael’s relationship was toxic and codependent. The whole relationship seemed extremely rushed and it felt like more of a trauma bond than a relationship. Cael’s ego was also painfully big. We get it, you’re above 6 feet tall; athletically built; and the best hockey player in the history of ever even though you haven’t conditioned or been on the ice in over a year, you don’t need to mention it CONSTANTLY.

4.75 ⭐️ I cannot lie to you I am still sobbing whilst writing this review. This is such a beautiful read, but please do be aware of the triggers and heartbreak that it does include 🤍 This duet has had me laughing, crying, smiling and honestly deeply thinking about life, friendships, relationships, grief, terminal illness and so many other topics. It has to be up there with my most tabbed books ever, because the amount of love, grief, sorrow and heartbreak in this book (and the first) is huge in the best ways possible. it really does get you thinking alongside the storyline of the more real life questions and thought provoking moments in life to consider and never take to granted.
