A weak start, but a strong finish.
Story: β β β β β

The first third of the volume disappointed me. The "Gosh! I don't know how to rely on people!" plot was weak and contrived, IMO. It felt like filler. Then things began to heat up in the second third. The characters felt more like their usual selves to me, and the plot felt more organic and compelling. The third part was excellent as Chigira and his competition started to flesh out as characters. The entire premise of the storyβto pretend to have feelings for each otherβis juvenile and silly, but the story became enjoyable even if Maaya is unbelievably naive for somebody supposedly so self-sufficient and bright.
