I never want this series to end!! Love is real and Stoker deserves to be wooed every day! Loved meeting the cast of the remaining Seven Sinners and getting to spend so much time with Tiberius

Ok so I really need more Veronica and Stoker together. That was the main disappointment of this book.

I flew through this book and was deeply engrossed by the plot that took Veronica and Stoker to Stoker’s family home while his eldest brother works to unmask the person responsible for friends deaths. We get a deeper sense of Stoker’s family with more scenes from two brothers and the childhood nanny. A fast and enjoyable ride that kept me guessing until the end.

Veronica and Stoker are at it again in a new adventure trying to protect Stoker’s brother from someone trying to murder him. Twenty years ago, during a tour of the continent with friends, Tiberius and his school friends stopped at the family estate found a dinosaur and had one of their number fall to his death. It was deemed an accident but now twenty years later a few of his companions have died mysteriously and Tiberius has received some clippings stating he is next.

But first, Veronica and Tiberius had to go and get Stoker from his hiatus in the forests of Bavaria. Let’s just say it was not exactly the reunion that Veronica was hoping for. Then off to Tiberius’s family seat and a house party to commemorate his lost friend and put all the players into the same location in hopes of finding the killer.
“Be brave. You have everything you need,” I murmured to no one in particular. “Everything indeed.” Excelsior!”

So now with all the player assembled Veronica can do what she does best and sleuth around to discover who is at the heart of the plot, while also trying to keep Tiberius safe. With a few other characters from previous books showing up it is a good time. I always like seeing JJ and what she is working on in her exuberance to get a story.

Stoker has come to a decision where Veronica is concerned though. He has proved his love time and time again, now it is her turn to woo him and she is going to have to set aside some of her independence and figure out how to trust they are to move forward. Stoker know the women he loves well and he will not let her take any shortcuts or seductions this time. He wants everything or nothing and the ball is in her court. Hopefully Veronica is not too smart for her own good in this regard.

Another solid story with a nice twist. I enjoyed it overall and while frustrated with Veronica and her stubbornness when it comes to revealing her heart I did like the overall story and the ending. It was fun hanging out with three of the Templeton-Veins in their ancestral home seeing the brothers become closer to each other. It is good to see Stoker find a place in his family and comfort in it. Also, a very cute ending to the book as well and a wooing that was worth the wait.

I forgot how much I love this series. Speedwell & Stoker on the case again.. with all the extra tension and mystery.

Sometimes a book comes to you just when you need it. Even though I know my books aren't perfectly written, I still have a hard time with a lot of books because my mind points out this thing I would change or that thing I would change. Not so with anything by Deanna Raybourn. Her craft is such that I can sink into her books and completely lose myself. Considering the fact that I've been battling a horrific attack of gastritis (my first and, Lord, please let it be my last), this was just the sort of story I needed.

At first, I thought Veronica and Stoker's relationship would eclipse the mystery. I should've known better. Per usual, Raybourn deftly balances both their romance and the harrowing circumstances that Tiberius and crew find themselves in.

There's humor. There's a twisty mystery. AND there are dinosaur bones. Dinosaurs and I go WAY back, and it was great to combine two loves: mystery and dinosaur bones.

They should let Raybourn pen any future installments of Mary Poppins because this book was practically perfect in every way.

Veronica Speedwell's adventures are never disappointing. This one ended on a very satisfying note.
