Nächster Fall für Detektive Max Wolfe. In einer vornehmen Wohnanlage wird eine ganze Familie zu Silvester umgebracht aber von dem jüngsten Sohn fehlt jede Spur. Die Tatwaffe ist recht ungewöhnlich und führt zu einem alten abgeschlossenen Fall. Doch hängt beides zusammen? Denn diese wäre ja zu offensichtlich.
Der zweite Fall hat mir um einiges besser gefallen, auch wenn hier wieder ein wenig zu viel auf einmal passiert. Unter anderem gibt es eine Vorgehensweise bei dem Fall die ich nicht so recht nachvollziehen kann, da diese zweimal gemacht wird und das Leben aller Kollegen damit auf dem Spiel steht. Das ist an sich das Einzige an Kritik auch wenn ich nicht näher drauf eingehen kann ohne etwas zu verraten. Die Handlung an sich ist sehr gut und einiges ist schon sehr schlüssig. Zum ersten Band eine deutlich Steigerung. Mir gefällt nebenbei auch die Private Handlung der Geschichte. Scout ist wie in kleiner Lichtblick bei der grausamen Story. Ich bin gespannt wie Band 3 sein wird.

An enjoyable thriller though it has to be said that it is rather gruesome, brutal and violent in places and the author certainly isn't afraid to kill, maim or permanently harm the good guy characters so you never know who will be left standing at the end of the book. It's well written although some parts stretch credibility to the limits. Still, I'm keen to read the next book in the series.
The narrator does a good job and is pleasant to listen to with good voice acting and emphasis. My only issue is that I listen to audiobooks while driving a noisy van on busy roads so in some places the narrator's voice is so quiet as to be inaudible. Would be perfect with headphones/earbuds but not so much in a noisier location.

Detektiv Maks Vulf se suočava sa brutalnim ubistvom četvoro članova idilične, bogate londonske porodice, a najmlađe dete je nestalo. Maks zna da ako ne pronađe dete u narednih par dana neće ga ni pronaći živo. Slično ubistvo, pištoljem za ubijanje stoke u klanicama, već se dogodilo trideset godina ranije i ubica je još živ....
Toni Parsons sjajno vodi priču i još bolje je završava. Pri kraju knjige zaista sam zaustavljao dah i zaboravljao da dišem.

Le meilleur des trois romans policiers de Parsons, à mon avis. Un véritable cours 101 d'écriture de thriller aux multiples rebondissements, aux ramifications intelligentes. En plus - et ce n'est pas négligeable -, Parsons a une plume magnifique, comme quoi la littérature populaire ne doit pas nécessairement être exempte de littérarité «pour plaire à la masse».
