I got about halfway through this before discarding. Well, techincally I lost the book somewhere in my sister's house, but I didn't look that hard to find it again. While it's fast paced, the subject matter is sick, disturbing and rather depressing to read. I've enjoyed Alex Cross books in the past, but I don't think they are for me anymore.

I really enjoyed this book. Most, but not all, of the twists were to be expected as someone who consumes a lot of crime/mystery type content. But overall it kept my attention and I wanted to keep reading
Truly awful narration. Made a pretty unbelievable book absolutely unlistenable.
I believe this is my first Patterson book, and I'm sad to say that I was underwhelmed by this one. Perhaps it's the publication date of this particular story, but it felt antiquated. I understand why he has such a fan base. If his other books are like this one, they are quick reads and easily digestible by the layman reader. While the plot was interesting and fast-paced, I wanted more technicality. I wanted Patterson to woo me with his research and it didn't happen. I was also quite disappointed with the one-note characters. And the sex scenes? Oy. The book was... fine. Nothing to write home about.
The pace of this book is very different from the previous ones. Much faster, and the "bad guy" wasn't as smart, but just as daring. Other than that I found the story interesting, in that the people are playing a game, except the game is in real life and not just some online gaming.
Character-wise, Alex Cross is the same. I find it interesting how the story ends with Christine Johnson being found, but would definitely like to know what happened in between. I guess that's where we will find out in the next one.
A good read.
