I have been trying to get into more thriller type books and this was definitely a good start! It ket me on my toes and I kept wanting to keep reading.
That being said I thought there would be a little bit more to the ending then there was but I really enjoyed the rest of the book

Not a thriller or suspense, in my opinion, nor fast-paced as I had assumed. More of a mystery that’s a suspense wanna be.
Tough subjects so trigger warning. I thought the author did a good job with it all but I only have the perspective of someone who hasn’t had that type of experience and trauma.
There were several small parts throughout that I felt weren’t needed; explaining or over-explaining how someone felt when it was already obvious or stated.
The main character is a podcaster; I did like the inclusion of the podcast episodes within the story telling.
I’ll read the next book just to see how it is.

Graphic: Rape, Sexual assault, and Sexual violence

Please do not read this book if you are triggered by discussions of rape. This was a hard book to read because of the content of the fictional cases. The story itself was ok and it felt like the “twist” was obvious and a bit unsurprising. It’s clear the author drew her inspiration for the main character from the podcaster who created serial and the main case seemed to be loosely based on the crimes of Brock Turner. I kept waiting for the book to surprise me and change my mind about it but it left me disappointed and heartbroken for the many individuals who experience rape and sexual assault.
