4.5 stars. This is a re read for me. Initially I thought I loved Evangeline and Drake's story but this is the story that I LOVED. Silas, gah how can people not love him. I will.go back to this book every couple of months just because I love him.
Oh my.... I loved Silas in Mastered and Dominated.. but in Kept I trulyadoredhi . His relationship with Hayley is so special and complicated and sweet and it made me unable to stop reading/listening. Maya Banks is a writer I love to read. Her stories are real and honest, and so very compelling. I have enjoyed every one!
This book was by far the best out of the whole series. I loved Silas in the other two and was glad that he was given his own book. I think that Maya could have gotten a bit less extreme with his back story. Because holy fuck was that ever dark!! You can have a character like Silas and not have a back story like that.
But either way it was a good story. Wish there were books for the rest of the “brothers” or at least the Maddox.

I like this author but this one was a bit cheesy and redundant.
This was by far my favorite of the Enforcer series. I would argue that the other two shouldn’t have even been written, this could have just been a dark romance/mafia stand alone.
All in all, it was a fun read that I wanted to get over with quick. I liked Silas from the beginning; his protective, silent, and private behavior in the first two books and his traumatic past made him the perfect love interest for Hayley. A musician in a prestigious university after her father passed away, she’s left with nothing. One day, she wanders into Silas’s apartment building looking for a place to stay… and it goes from there. It’s very much infatuated at first sight, however I liked how their relationship did start slower with Silas listening to her play violin in late hours of the night. It really strengthened their relationship in the non-physical way.
I definitely couldn’t care less about the mafia focused plot of this book and mostly finished because of how much I liked Hayley as a protagonist. I think it’s a good example of small-town girl moves to the big city who’s struggling then catches the eye of dangerous and rich man who absolutely must have her. I wouldn’t say there is much of a dominance aspect in this, more so control over the relationship not expressed clearly. Once again I liked the bodyguards but was overwhelmed by their presence many times in the book. I do have to say I was very underwhelmed by this series as regular fan of Maya Banks.
