I wanted to like this. It couldn’t hold my attention. The plot is good and I like the references to mythology and what the author did with those stories. For me the problem is with the long drawn out dialogues. I started scanning for the next interesting thing to happen and eventually just gave up on it. DNF

Ahh I really liked Song Lian's journey. Its been a while since I read the first book, but the author puts in like really short summaries that make it easy to connect the dots if you forgot the narrative points. Also I liked how she didn't immediately forgive Xan I feel like its common for the male love interest says sorry and act pathetic for forgiveness, but she stood her ground.
