Plainclothmen Baley and R. Daneel Oliwar are together again. This time they're investigating a murder on Solaria, a planet the size of Earth but only has 20,000 people on it. They've gotten so isolated from each other that they have different definitiosn for viewing and seeing. The former is using holograms, the latter physically seeing. So in a world that shuns human contact, how could there be a murder?
Another part of the human condition that Asimov explores is agoraphobia. Earth is the complete opposite of this planet, people are crammed together in cities the size of states and completely walled off from the sun. So Baley literally can't take wide open spaces. It's a great juxtaposition with the people of Solaria. While not as good as Caves of Steel, it's classic Asimov and worth a read.

Liked it more than caves of steel- the last few chapters were very well written- started a little slow, though.
