I was gripped!
It starts in New York with a money exchange for a kidnapped wife and daughter and moves to London and Norfolk.
The action scenes are well written and you can sense the tension and action. I was actually invested in the characters for once! That is a nice change for a Reacher book where I am only really invested in the recurring characters in the Reacher universe.
Some of the tech dates this BUT it doesn't spoil the book whilst you are waiting for each twist and turn of the story. I was just along for hte ride and it's a great ride.
This is the kind of Reacher book that keeps you reading the series and eager for the next in the series.

This is a fun Reacher novel but really predictable. There’s some good set pieces but this isn’t the best one.
A great thrilling detective novel. I can add Jack Reacher to Travis McGee and Spenser as terrific detectives whose exploits I enjoy reading about. Reacher is more of a loner than those two--he has no friends and no home base. Instead, he drifts around the U.S. finding trouble.
One odd thing about these novels is that sometimes they are written in first person, sometimes in third. The Hard Way was written in third.

These Reacher novels could become addictive. In this one, Reacher tries to get to the bottom of a double kidnapping and the waters get very murky, very fast. Things are not what they seem. Lots of good twists and turns, and some clever writing. The settings range from Central Park West to London and then the rural English countryside.
