While certainly not one of Sanderson's best, it was a nice reprieve from my Cosmere reread. It's fun, fairly unique, and doesn't overstay its welcome. I don't think it's all that special, but I also think it is worth a read for its unique ideas.

Entertaining and fast paced. It pretended to be more clever than it actually was, but it didn't bother me too much.

Stephen Leeds is a certified genius, and his aspects are the reason why. However, having multiple hallucinatory people around at all times can become pretty crowded even at the best of times. When he's enlisted to recover a camera that can supposedly take pictures of the past, he finds himself in the crosshairs of terrorists and on an adventure around the world.

I finished this a while ago and a lot of it is not memorable. I recall enjoying the aspects a lot although even though one of them was racist/xenophobic for no reason. The others were cool, and I thought it was an interesting idea so I might see if the tv show can hold my attention any better.

Probably like a 2/5 honestly.

First time reading the third part. The first two were really fun but the third went in a weird but not necessarily unsurprising direction. As a story it wasn’t super satisfying to me, but it did hit on one of my favorite (religious?) topics, which is that sometimes the benefit we get from believing in something outweighs whether that thing is necessarily “real” or “true”.
