It took me an embarrassingly long time to finish this book but it was very good! Each story portrays a different but familiar pain and betrayal that women face, slowly driving them “mad”.

I was hoping for something insightful and interesting…. First story was great. The second and third were just awful. Had to force myself through it since it is a short book

Read this book in my early 20’s, hated Maurice. Reread it again at 30, hate Maurice and her “friends” even more.

Creo que es un libro que sólo las mujeres que han dejado a todo el mundo por su marido y sin él se sienten solas pueden comprender esto

i have taken to my pen again not to go back over the same ground but because the emptiness within me, around me, is so vast that this movement of my hand is necessary to tell myself that i am still alive

I am, once again, stumped on how to rate an anthology. TLDR, these were my reactions to each story. 1) "wow, I thought I was the only one who had those kinds of thoughts. from an outside perspective, they're kind of annoying." 2) "what" 3) "WOMAN OPEN YOUR EYES!!!" (also questioning everything I know about myself). I'd give it a 6/5 for the ability to evoke emotion (and by emotion I mean the following: anger, anxiety, and existentialism). had a lot of important thoughts about families, friendships, and time-- all things I'm gonna try to hold on to so I don't have to re-read this book. heck of a ride
