Loved so much that I want a hard copy for myself to mark up

3.5
Insightful for beginners in buddhist spirituality.
If you are keen in the topic or have read Tchich Nhat Hanh before, this reading won't offer you nothing new. Anyway, full of compassion.

Not as structured and formalistic as some Buddhist books but sometimes loses its immediacy in Buddhist vocabulary and unsatisfactory koan-like philosophy.

I got to "inter-being" and knew it was probably going to be too woo-woo for me. Then my holds for Lincoln in the Bardo and The Husband's Secret came in, so out this one goes.

Thich Nhat Hanh explains beautifully in short prose-like paragraphs how and when to practice mindfulness. Although he simplifies complexe buddhist philosophy for the Western lifestyle, he is rather realistically in how difficult mindfulness in every aspect of your life is difficult to adopt. If you are looking for a step-by-step guide in mindfulness, this book isn’t for you - it’s much more intangible in nature.

Highly recommend for anyone interested in a basic teaching of the philosophy behind mindfulness.

I found great comfort in the teachings of this book.

Everyone should read this book.
