3.5 This book was slow to start, but as soon as the Mayor dies, it is NON-STOP!!!! And that body count!!!!! Also, the twist got me in the end, and I was here for it.

This will be a great horror movie, but as a book, it just didn’t add up. Too May miners I couldn’t suspend my disbelief.
Very surprised by how much I loved this book! After reading the synopsis I was kind of “meh”. It sat on my TBR list for months and months.
FINALLY I picked it up after I had a sh*t day at work (hello healthcare worker in a pandemic), and just wanted to read ANYTHING that would get my mind off the day.
After the first section I was definitely invested in the characters and there was a good flow to the story.
This book made me nostalgic about all the slasher movies I watched growing up (especially for the first time), a great escape from the terrors of the real world.
