It took me almost two weeks to finish this book. Taking so long with a graphic novel is never a good sign.

* not sure how Iris can claim an interest in archaeology and read a bunch of books about it and then not tell that the sunken town wasn't "ancient". I get that kids are creative and imaginative, but they're (usually) not stupid - especially not kids who are passionate about some specific niche

* wish it would've said WHY the town was at risk;
Spoiler was the dam built before the town? it kind of implied it was built after, but if that's the case then why wasn't the water a threat when the town was built? is this some sort of attempt to show the dangerous effects of global warming?

* could've been fleshed out more. the lack of details and clarification didn't add to a feeling of ~mystery~ just a feeling of frustration

*
Spoiler y'all are trying to sell this as a story of young love? there was absolutely no spark between Sam and Iris, they seemed like two characters who had nothing in common other than their shared past. just....no.

Loved the art style for this cute little graphic novel. I just wish the message for it came across better and more clear.

The art in this book is stunning and the plot is cute, mysterious and just tense enough to keep kids hooked without scaring them.

I just really loved the feel of it. It was a book about adventure and the idea of leaving something behind when things change. It made me think of the Hilda comics a little. Honestly, I really enjoyed this book though I wish that there was more story to it. I wanted to know more about the village. Overall though I thought it was a nice story.
