Cute and charming novel about enterprising children who make a home for strays, abandoned, and otherwise maltreated dogs while trying to prevent their parents from finding out. The latter part was probably the most unconvincing part of the premise, but refreshingly enough, the book's also real about the time and money needed to keep that many dogs. Those dog dishes don't fill themselves, after all!

Don’t love the sexism and fat shaming - could use an update! Read for scout book/movie club.

The book was not as good as I thought it would be after watching the movie

This is a cute story. However, it is one of the rare instances in which I prefer the movie version.
