I enjoyed the story. The characters were true to how kids can be.
The colours are gorgeous, but didn’t enjoy the type of drawing. It made the characters look too angular?

Lost in the Future by Damian, published by Papercutz, offers a compelling narrative that flows effortlessly, reminiscent of watching an engaging adult animated series. The storytelling is smooth and keeps you hooked, making it easy to immerse yourself in the world the author has created.
However, what detracted from my experience were the extremely stereotypical characters. The tough guy who bullies nerds, the overweight character whose entire personality revolves around food—even in life-threatening situations—and the nerdy Asian with glasses are all tropes that feel outdated and overused. I was hoping for a fresh take that would break away from these old-fashioned molds, but unfortunately, that wasn't the case.
Despite these shortcomings, the story itself is intriguing enough to keep me invested. My final rating is 2.5 stars, which I’m rounding down because, as someone who values character development, I found this aspect lacking in the novel.
Thank you to Papercutz and NetGalley for providing an advanced reader copy.

I really enjoyed this first instalment of this story. I felt the cast of characters on this journey really work well together including the bully. I was drawn in right away and wanted to know more. I’ll have to keep this series in mind as the next ones come out! I’m hooked and can’t wait for more. Highly recommend!

we've got a nice story set in the "future" but is it the future? I guess you'll only know, once you read the adventures of our little friends.
nothing spectacular in terms of both the story and the graphics. but once the other volumes will be available I'll want to read them.

big thank you to Papercutz for providing me with an arc.

So there's a couple of flaws with this as far as weak plot lines go, but honestly for a kids story it's pretty fun! Reads a lot like a Saturday morning cartoon, ya know? It's not too deep and they don't make things overly complicated just for the sake of it.

A good little band of characters, a fun plot. I could definitely see this being a great series. The art style is also gorgeous honestly. Good fun!

Not my thing. Cover intrigued me and my NetGalley request was approved so I finished it, but I wasn't a fan of the constant fatphobia (cliche "let's make fun of the fat guy!") and it also felt ableist. A character is on crutches but is constantly having her autonomy taken away (carried by others without her consent) and being told she slows them down, etc.

The story also isn't anything special and the art style just felt icky. Well done art, but not my thing.

The whole thing felt like an old Cartoon Network show that my old classmates (not my friends) would have liked. Pushing buttons just to push them sort of thing.

This graphic novel sadly wasn’t for me. That being said I know I’m not necessarily the target audience for this book. It was easy to read. Filled with interesting imaginations. I think a lot of young kids would enjoy this book.
