Ce roman émouvant est une belle introduction à l'écriture de Grimaldi. Dans celui-ci, elle explore le deuil au sens large, mais aussi le deuil des versions de soi que l'on regarde disparaître quand un proche nous quitte. Bien que les thèmes ne soient pas légers et que les malheurs soient nombreux dans ce livre, la relation évolutive des soeurs apporte quelque chose de lumineux à ce récit. Dans " Une belle vie", le désir de réparer des relations et de construire quelque chose de nouveau est complémentaire au désir de voir une version de soi dont on est fier dans le regard de ses proches.
