The wildest part is that apparently I've read the first book and yet I couldn't tell you a single plot point. Instead I remember another Ariana Nash series and that's the one that has my heart.
Anywhoost, this was okay. It did what is said it was going to do and moved along.

I mean it's labelled as fantasy with elves so wasn't expecting mentions of guns and tank tops lol, took the fantasy immersion out. Just my own preferences though for full fantasy:)

Ever heard the saying "The best things come in small packages?", well that is totally true for this quick read.

It's a vignette from Eroan's life, the turning point in his sexuality, the awakening of his true desires. And boy is it a hot read, yet also a powerful and full of emotion read too. This isn't cheap erotica but an almost heart wrenching scene of a love that can never be. It's a good job it is a short story otherwise I would have been so in love with the characters that nothing but a HEA would have sufficed!

I was totally absorbed into this encounter between Eroan and the Messenger, Trey. Both men live with the knowledge that today might be their last day, that any liaison between them will be brief and ephemeral. However it is also filled with amazing passion and so utterly beautiful and desperate.

There was also the opportunity to get a feel for the world in which this story, and the series, will be set. A pretty amazing achievement in such a short story, though not surprising given the talent of this author.

I'd hoped for a steamy M/M read, and Ariana Nash certainly delivered! There were brief glimpses of the side characters and a look into Eoran's personality, as well as the interesting world. But let's be honest, this is all about the sexy stuff, and WOW was it incredible! Short and hot and sweeping in its romance. Not much to say, other than I adored it and loved it! This makes me want to read the series that will follow it.

I hope we see more of Trey in the next books. I really enjoyed reading about him and Eroan’s first time with a man

This was a light and fluffy and sexy short story set a few years before silk and steel, Eroan and Janna both mention a messenger that Eroan had spent the night with in silk and steel, sealed with a kiss is about that night.
