⁕ The book is split into 4 sections to reflect 4 seasons. I understand that this is to show how Clara's magic operates and changes, but the quick passage of time sometimes resulted in rushed scenes and passively explaining the action instead of showing it.
⁕ I feel indifferent about the main character but love many of the secondary ones. Each has unique motivations and experiences when it comes to their relationship with Clara that create such interesting dynamics throughout the story.
⁕ I wish there was more extensive world-building around the history of magic, the founding of the schools, and the conflict between those with magic and those without.

the novel on the other hand - had a lot of potential, and I liked that it raises awareness on the climate change!, which makes it even worse that it was so underwhelming, though.
Clara was awfully annoying and one-dimensional. her behaviour and constant worrying was okay for some chapters, but she continues to be unnecessarily whiny
then there’s the famous “let’s not talk about things and work through them together, instead break up and drown in self-pity”-trope mixed with constant repetitions of what has already been said —
also once again noticing that I don’t like urban fantasy in 9/10 cases
Schade!
Graphic: Dysphoria
Moderate: Injury/Injury detail
