I'm uncertain if it was the protagonist herself or the narrator's voice that I didn't care for in this book but something between the two didn't work for me.

I didn't watch the movie but I've decided to read this one at the recommendation of a friend during our vacation.

It was a great story of how she met a wonderful guy who ended up becoming her boyfriend, about their love to the sea and how their dream trip became a tragedy. It's raw, it's real and she doesn't sugarcoat or try to hide her mistakes or theirs during what happened.

It's a short read that feels very real. She doesn't shy even from the issues she had with Richard's family. I am not saying she is right on the conflicts, but just that's real and I respect her for writing about it.

I also liked that she eventually found love again and built a family. Great story of a courageous woman who faced and survived a terrible ordeal.

I can imagine that all the details about the boat and the sailing, can mean a lot to people who sail. But she lost me in all those numbers. But nevertheless, it is a must-read. This book made me cry a couple of times. I really felt bad for her that the parents of Richard weren’t really open towards her and that the brother-in-law didn’t include her for Richard’s boat. But I guess you can’t really know from Tami’s perspective how his family mourned.
adventurous hopeful informative sad slow-paced

I honestly liked reading this book but it was not a pageturner and not what I expected, there was a lot of information about sailing which I don’t know nothing about but besides that it was a beautiful story which makes me very curious about the movie
