This book was such magical and lovely to read. I like how David William’s writes his books. I liked the friendship vibes in this book as it show animals and people can be friends that a beautiful friendship can come out of. I loved all the characters in this book as they all fitted into the book so so well. My favourite character is Elsie though at the whole book as she shows you how far children can go to do thing. This is my 1st star read of 2025 and am so glad it was a David William’s book. I loved how the story was too in this book as well. I read this 480 page book in a whole day as it kept me that gripped and interested. The ended was such a lovely end to the book. I also liked the facts at the book of the book as that’s such a good touch to the book xxx

why did this take me so long to read… interesting story line though

What an enjoyable fun read. It’s David Walliams so the jokes a slapstick and a little bit on the naughty side but I love that, I can imagine a child ready this a giggling at the fart jokes! The story it’s self is got a lot emotion in there and ultimately it’s about love and to quote Queen Victoria from the book “you have nothing without love.” Well done David walliams what a wonderful sentiment that everyone should take note of. I will most definitely search his other books even though I’m not his intended age group but hey we are children at heart.

Idk what came first, this, or the movie abominable. Either way one took much inspiration from the other cause they are almost the same story baring setting and characters. (But abominable is WAYYY better) So basically just plot lol. But it was a very cute story and I would rec to others to read cause I had a good laugh

Read as research and I can recommend to anyone with children aged 7-11.

I always enjoyed reading David walliams' books. Funny and gives a good message at the end for kids. the little kid inside me still enjoy , the drawings and also the stories of this type . This is also a very nice book about a mammoth that came back to life and a little girl named Elsie. In David walliams'stories there's always bad adults and he tries to bring out the purity of kids' hearts and mischievousness. It's lovely to go back in time and read something like this once in a while.

Walliams’ story is about Elsie, a young orphaned girl living on the streets of 1890s Victorian London after she leaves her orphanage run by a cruel headmistress. Luckily, she knows the city streets so well and manages to have an okay life and live cautiously. Later, she learns in the news of the amazing discovery of a woolly mammoth
