We see the return of some beloved (and some not) secondary characters as well as the introduction of Thea’s mom, Kelly. Unfortunately a character I really liked from book 1 did not return but it was nice to see Thea develop another friendship.
I think there might actually be less diversity than the first book in this one?
There were many swoony moments that made me grin and blush like an idiot. And finally some spice as well! It’s not the spiciest of all spice but it is more than book one. 🌶️🌶️1/2
Overall this book sets up the story well for book 3, which I will definitely read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 and 🌶️🌶️1/2.

- Thea forgives Julian waayyy too easily in the beginning. She basically immediately lets him back in her life. It felt very unsatisfying and anticlimactic
Ending on a random car accident was kind of disappointing. Like there were so many dramatic things and threats happening, that an out of nowhere car accident was super random and again anticlimactic. Feels super out of place for the story.
But like I said, I still enjoyed it. If you like high stakes adventure and drama, and intense romance and spice than this book is great. It had some of my favourite tropes too: fated mates, dual POV, secret identity, overly protective mate. Solid 3/5 on the spice scale too.

Moderate: Addiction, Torture, Kidnapping, Car accident, Suicide attempt, and Fire/Fire injury
Minor: Cancer and Drug use
