An ok thriller, with some nice observations on Camden and how it has changed over time, and also on the dynamics of bands. The forensic sleuth part is decent, but there is a Major Clanger.
(I can share this as it is not a spoiler for the plot).
Cassie Raven visit a house in Camden which is steeped in rock and roll, and describes a grandfather clock where the clock face is the iconic Clash album cover, London Calling. But she says that it is Joe Strummer smashing his guitar on the cover. It's not - it is bassist Paul Simenon. And that kind of thing gets my goat.

After reading Body Language, I was excited to see what Life Sentence would bring for Cassie Raven. I really enjoyed the plot of the book and especially how Cassie’s relationships have developed. I felt like the way Cassie’s character evolved in this book was really enjoyable and I would definitely recommend this to friends.

As enjoyable as the series debut.
A note of caution for mutuals looking for sapphic rep: it's still unclear if the romance is a very slow burn or will be dropped altogether.

I enjoyed the first book in this series and I enjoyed this one too. I have already bought the next one. The only thing I wasn't as keen on is that the mystery was more personal and we didn't really get much of the ordinary mortuary stories like we did in the first. Having said that I liked the story, I did guess the killer relatively early but it didn't mar my enjoyment of the rest of the book. I would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys crime thrillers but especially if you like a supernatural element to them. I think the 'visions' are dealt with really well and as a sceptic I never felt that the central character was wrong, or was seeing things. I enjoyed her interpretation of events. She analyses things with a scientific mind but she also isn't close minded either.
