i just think every gesture in this book is the same gesture. she’s using the same effect again and again. the emotional tone of the whole book is the same, and there’s just….nothing cool about it. so many of the techniques feel lazy. just really did not get the hype with this one.

This book was unsettling as all hell!
It's 5 stars for the atmosphere and sense of unease. But it's also one of those books where I technically understand the themes (land poisoned by pesticides, a mother fearing for her child's safety), but also feel like I'm not smart enough to read it.

En un diálogo infinito, Amanda y David intentan determinar qué es lo que está mal en un pueblo rural argentino, en el que las intoxicaciones graves son moneda corriente.
Que absoluta bestialidad lo que escribe ésta mujer, no me voy a cansar nunca jamás de decirlo. No es solo el clima de tensión constante (porque hasta que no llegas al final no entendés del todo qué está pasando) sino la estructuración, que además hace que no te aburras nunca y que quieas que termine y que no termine al mismo tiempo. Para mí es uno de los 3 libros indiscutibles para explorar el movimiento de nuevas narrativas argentinas.
