This books shows the importance drugs played in the rise and downfall of Nazi Germany during World War 2. I wonder how different the outcome of the war would have been without the use of drugs. It was difficult at times to know whether a proper German word was referring to a person, place, or an army division but that did not take away from the book.

I didn’t realized how much opioids and crystal meth played a role in WWII! Drug use is tied up with virtue, worthiness, and citizenship that leads to its poor use and abuse. if you haven’t read this one, add it to your list. From crystal meth to sugar, the Third Reich was propelled and undone by its chemical dependencies. I learned a lot from this one, even if it did make me sick to my stomach.
