dark mysterious medium-paced

Megan is bored a bored housewife who wants to go back to work. Her husband, Craig, opposes this idea.

We learn in the beginning of the book about Craig’s controlling behavior. The story is told from Megan and Craig’s perspectives so we know how they each feel about the situation.

The story was not realistic enough for me. There were too many holes that distracted me from the plot.

Craig is keeping Megan locked away without any hygiene products and a bucket to use for the bathroom and she’s somehow able to live normally for six weeks? She’s exercising daily too which would add to how necessary bathing would be. Also, it takes her six weeks to read some diaries when she has nothing else to do? And how heavy are these dumbbells that she allegedly has no chance of picking up? She’s not an infant. And she’s allegedly seeing in the dark without any windows or lights… that is not how that works.

Plus the ending wasn’t quite right for me. I get it’s supposed to be a twist - although predictable - but she’s acting like she was in control of her relationship with Craig and Anna, which is obviously not true.
