After the heartbreaking ending of The Hidden Falling, full of emotions, the story continues exactly where it stopped. The trust between Rhea and Darius has shattered.
Forced to admit that some things don't add up, Darius and his team wants to hear Rhea’s side of the story and comprehend what is really happening.
Rhea has a big heart. I felt like this book was really about her gaining confidence and learning to restore trust with Darius again after the events at Wolvorn castle.
In the name of the truth, she is forced to share her traumas. Throughout this second installment, we are given piece by piece what happened to Rhea and we understand better how the world of Vrohkaria rules and how the refuge of Eridian was created.
Rhea learns to get control back. Even though she is not completely there at the end of the book, she grows a lot.
All along this book, Darius grovels a lot… As expected. It takes a lot of time for him to properly apologize as he is not used to do so. As the Alpha of the Elites, he controls everything and is not used to grovel for someone. He will still piss you off for at least 75% of the book.
But when what you always believe seems to be a lie, it takes time to get around and accept your wrongs. He is regretful but has difficulties expressing it.
Though I predicted that ending, it still hurts and I can’t wait to see how this last scene will play out.
Be aware book 2 is still very dark maybe even darker because we get some insights on Rhea’s past.
I can’t wait for book 3, war is coming and I think it's going to be epic ! And I’m here for Rhea’s revenge !
Check TW before reading ! This is not for the faint of heart.
I received an ARC copy in return of an honest review. Thank you Kelly Cove for this ARC of The Dark Rising.
