Will read absolutely any new books by Abulhawa. Loved this one as much as Mornings in Jenin and Against The Loveless World, and its primary setting in Gaza, Palestine, is especially salient right now. Her writing effectively highlights supreme sadness and pain while simultaneously empowering characters with such beauty and power. She is truly a gifted and important author.

One of those books that make your eyes well up every 50 pages or so, either because of a tragic plotline or because the writing is simply so beautiful and exquisite that you need to take a moment and appreciate it in its totality.
I'm always marvelled by the ability of certain writers to write the stories of individuals whose lives span across generations, while also not compromising on character development. And Susan did exactly that, and I fell in love with so many characters in this book, even the ones that had very little time with very little to say.
She certainly is a gifted writer and I'm so thrilled to read Mornings in Jenin next. Something about middle eastern literature is always going to be captivating to me. I'm deeply grateful and thankful to Susan for writing this book and making it accessible to someone like me, who lives all the way in the southern corner of India.

El primer libro que leo sobre Palestina, me hizo entender un poco más de la cultura que se está perdiendo
