This book absolutely wrecked me. It is such a beautiful and unique take on a second chance romance where the characters are so complicated and traumatized. In some parts I laughed out loud, and then in other parts, it was making me sob for these wonderful characters. I cannot recommend this book enough. As a person living with chronic illness and chronic pain, I felt so seen, and the discussions around the main characters disability touched me so deeply.

An emotional story of growth, perseverance, and a chance to find love again. While many herald this as a brilliant second chance romance, I think that fails to capture what this story pushes to the forefront. After years of estrangement Shane and Eva reunite and have the opportunity to unpack their traumatic pasts. Going back to a drug filled seven day bender, these characters uncover the truth and open themselves to the possibility of more. Although incredibly heavy, Williams portrays the beautiful possibility of what we can overcome.

I loved this book. The chemistry between Eva and Shane was so great and I loved how dorky they were with each other as adults.
I liked the fact that they tried to take some time apart to figure themselves out but ended up together anyway knowing they didn't want to be apart anymore
there was great chronic illness representation and I really loved that there was no toxicity in the co parenting.
This book was so loving but very sad in parts and contained some really intense topics.
It was a really great right person wrong time story.

Content warnings below 🥺 If you can’t read especially upsetting scenes including the content warnings below, this one might not be for you. This was one of the reasons I could not give this book 5 stars, it was quite stressful to get through at times 🫠

However, what an incredible love story! Imagine having seven days in June, then reuniting with this certain person 15 years later 😳
I’m also so glad that Eva and Shane made it back together, although I was also kind of satisfied when they took their break? I thought it was important to acknowledge breaks in relationships too 🥹

I loved the other characters too; they felt mostly well-rounded 🥰 Brilliant.

4 out of 5 stars for me ✨ Thank you!

Intriguing concept with good chronic illness representation, but lost momentum half way in, with rushed pacing towards the end.

this book was so close to perfect but some elements were missing and the beginning was a little too slow so i couldn’t give it a perfect score.

this book was truly impactful. it was complex and raw. it examined many important and hard themes in such an intense and personal way. this book was so realistic, the writing was beautiful and engaging. the characters were imperfect and authentic and so endearing. i just wish we could’ve seen a little more of their past to understand more their behaviours (also kinda wish audre was acting more of her age sometimes i couldn’t understand how she wasn’t 16?!?).

tropes: second chance romance, bookish setting

ngl there are a bunch of parts of this book that i think were unsuccessful or just not great/necessary. however, i fell in absolute love with the characters and their stories. i would do anything for them.
