I'm a sucker for a second chance romance!
I loved the first 85% but the last 15% was a bit of a letdown in comparison.

I think that a 3/5 romance is better than a 3/5 fantasy but a 5/5 fantasy is better than a 5/5 romance but this book made me question that.

If Beach Reads (by Emily Henry) is a summer sangria (wonderful, tasteful, light) then this is some high quality vintage red (still wonderful, and tasteful, but more developed and sophisticated, dare I even say darker?). All the characters are rich and 3 dimensional and this book is pulled by the characters as much as the plot.

This is a second chance romance and like a goddamn fool I fell for that third act break up. The will they won’t they, they are perfect for each other, they are too damaged for each other ness of this book had me reading this too late into the night.

We can remember the books we’ve read for all kinds of reasons - the drama of the plot, a wild twist, strong atmosphere, use of language… what will stay with me most from Seven Days In June is the humanity of the characters and the intensity of their connection.

Yes this book is a romance, but it has a definite breadth and literary quality. It’s about much more than the chemistry and destiny of these two lovers. It’s about generational trauma and life with chronic illness and addiction and creativity, and it is at the same time sexy and funny and heartwarming.

There’s so much life in this book. All of the contrasting elements create a rich reading experience. One of my best of 2021.

Thanks to Grand Central Publishing for the free copy of this book.

 - I'm discovering that I love a second-chance romance, especially when it's as electric as SEVEN DAYS IN JUNE. Eva and Shane are a couple for the history books. Their personalities and their chemistry just fly off the page.
- I loved how Eva's chronic migraines figured into this book, and how over the course of the story she realizes not only that she deserves to be supported and not seen as a burden, but also that professionally speaking, she shouldn't have to hide when she's not feeling well.
- Also, Eva's daughter Audre was a riot. Amid all the heavy stuff in this book, it was also hilarious and a joy to read.
