I'm so conflicted on this book. I thought the prose was often very beautiful, but I hated almost everything else about it LOL the age gap freaked me out even when she was 20 and he was 28, when she was a child and he was 30+ it felt soooooo gross. it was also just, long and kind of boring. I didn't really buy the chemistry between Henry and Clare, they have nothing in common besides how much they love to have sex. I figured out that

Henry was probably going to die

about halfway through and then spent the rest of the book just waiting for it to happen. Maybe it could have been more compelling if I cared about any of the characters at all, but as it `tood it was just a lot of nothing vignettes of the lives of uninteresting, privileged white people feeling sorry for themselves. Sigh. Feel like it could have been great.

I dont think this book needed to be this long, there were definitely chapters that could have been omitted. It also didn't age well, the author  describes some characters in a pretty racist way, lots of unnecessary microagressions...overall I'm glad I read it as it's rare to find a book I read before watching the movie/show and overall its a timeless love story
