I've heard about this book and people said it was good so I thought I'd give it a go and it was an enjoyable read. I think I would've given it a 5 stars if it wasn't for the fact that there is a weird age gap going on which made me slightly uncomfortable. The story was emotional and I did get invested in the characters, I wanted to know more and see where the story would go. I did like all the characters in this book! The story itself had its ups and downs of happy and sad moments but it was still enjoyable to read.

Thayer being 31 and Salem being 18/19 was the weirdest thing about this book as I'm not a huge fan of age gaps this big as I feel as though you're at two different points in life, however I loved Salem as a character I thought she was strong and independent despite going through some traumatic things and then her mum getting cancer on top of it all. I didn't like Thayers ex wife as she was horrible and I didn't feel as if her anger made sense entirely for this book. Thayers son was a good fun character and I felt so bad when he died, a sad accident for sure. The book had a very sad ending and thayer pushing Salem away was really sad.

It was good until near the end when nothing started to make sense and it all seemed rushed. Various plot holes and I just started to become confused.

The only thing that kept me going was to find out what the plot point is and why people are saying its a sad, emotional book. I hated the fmc and the mmc was just not it for me. I've read other age gap books befote and this definitely ain't it for me.
