Wow!! This was fast paced, and I felt like I was reading at break neck speed to find out everything that would happen next. This book took place over the course of 24 hours following a live shooter terrorizing Southampton. Every time you think that Helen and her team are about to apprehend the culprits, they manage to slip away again! I think this book was the best in the series yet!

3.8⭐️ Good story, fast chain of events, easy to read. Although I didn’t really feel connected to the characters, it might be just because I didn’t read the previous books…Anyway it’s a good book to relax and enjoy without having to think a lot.

This book had me in its grip. I read it in one day. It is good but not my favorite in the series. I do love that it al happens in the span of one day. Believe me when you start you can't put it down untill you finish. It is dark and twisted.
I really liked this. I have read the other in this series so I know the backstory but I thought this book was a good old fashioned police thriller. We had jeopardy, we had an unfathomable killer to begin with and then a killer who had tiny tiny chinks of relatability. We had a damaged protagonist trying to recover from a horrendous experience by running headlong into another. It was exciting and I have been to Southampton so I could imagine the locations.
It won't change the world, it's not particularly new or different in its writing style and structure but it works and that's what you want from this type of novel. We move onwards to the next one.

2023 read - enjoyed reading it once I took the time to sit down and actually focus I got through it quite quick. Still pretty new to crime fiction but would definitely read more books like this
