I read this book for the 2025 PS challenge of "a book about overlooked women in history" and this certainly hit that mark! Aside from the fact that I do not read/seek out much focused on the Dark Ages, I did not know about these Queens or the awful things that they did and the things done to them.

This is non-fiction, but not an academic book, although it could be.  I made it about 65% through, reading all of it, before I started skipping forward.  There are a lot of people involved and a lot of names to keep straight, which started to be an issue, when they have the same name!

Based off what we know, it really seems like Brunhild got the crappiest deal in the end and the stupid servant queen, Fredegund didn't get the comeuppance that she should have.  Also, men are stupid!
