I just took this book back to the library and I feel like I'm cutting ties with a group of friends! I'll be looking to buy a copy of the book so I can keep them close. I will be honest - it took a little bit for me to get into this story, but once I did - I could not put it down. I loved it. I loved the ending and wished that there was a sequel so we could see into these people's lives a few years down the road.

Take some time and read this book - the story and characters will stay with you for a long time!

4.5 stars. This is a warm, cozy contemporary novel about found family. This was the perfect read for the holiday season. It is a bit repetitive in parts, and a bit slow, but it is so enjoyable. It's like the kind of feast that makes you eat slowly because you want to savor every bite. I fell in love with these characters and the setting in northern Scotland. I wish I had an Elfrida in my life- she's such an interesting character, so warm and fun. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with these characters and am sad it's over - I'll be thinking about them for a while.
