Jacob’s Room was tough for me: I really, really, really wanted to like this book… but simply could not muster enough feeling to experience anything even remotely close to ‘like.’ Although I will note that the writing was enjoyable; it was clever and able to lend a situation or person with both a sense of profundity and banality – what other author can do that?!? But for me, the lack of plot and stream of consciousness prevented me from experiencing the characters and events in the novel; I could probably have handled the lack of one or the other, but not both! Without a proper establishment of who the characters were and what motivated them, I never developed any attachment to them. And absent at least the skeleton of a plot, I did not care what happened, or even follow what had actually happened in some cases. Even the writing I thought so pleasant at times slipped out of my mind the moment my eyes were off the page – I think the lack of characterization and plot even prevented me connecting with the words of this story at times. Oh well, on to Mrs. Dalloway!!!

the story was pretty good, nothing outstanding but much better the  the last woolf's book i have read, which means she has redeemed herself.

The story shows a beautiful coming out of age story and the live of jacob while he experiences what himans experience many times.

Wonderful writing and great character development

As the author is Virginia Woolf, I definitely could say I expected a lot from this book, however each page seemed to become more tedious than the other, I often found myself confused among the unending list of characters. (Couldn’t finish it all)
