I generally enjoy Dare's books, but this wasn't my favorite of her books--mostly because I never really got the heroine's motivations. Gray, the hero, was well rounded and characterized, and I liked Gray and Sophia together. But I think that most of the book takes place on a ship made it feel less expansive than a lot of other books, too. An enjoyable read, but I was able to put it down a lot more easily than I can most of Dare's books.

I couldn't finish this. I think I might just be over all romance novels, I couldn't suspend disbelief, I didn't care about anyone in it, it made me feel tired.

I love Tessa Dare. I admit I struggled a little with this one. I wasn’t a huge fan of Jane/Sophia. Maybe it’s been too long since I read a romance but I felt like the story over dramatized her reluctance to tell her secret to Gray. Yes, what she did wasn’t loved by society, but she acted like she killed a man. I also struggled with the romance of it, primarily because they were at sea for over a month. And the idea of any of them being even remotely clean or good smelling seemed very far fetched. So every time Jane mentioned the male scent of Gray, I kind of pictured a bit so clean man smell. And it wasn’t good or alluring or sexy.
