If we could give half stars I'd probably do 2.5 for this one. I rounded up because I'm still into the story, and there were a lot of things I liked about this volume. I love Ruth. His backstory was so sad and I'm glad that Chise has a friend now lol. I also liked that some of the characters are starting to push Chise to not put all her self-worth in Elias.
That being said, the framing is still kind of portraying Chise's dependence on Elias as an overall good thing and Chise is still a pretty frustrating character. I don't want or expect her to just get over all her emotional trauma immediately, but I want to see her have more of a personality besides just keening for Elias' approval. Also, the reveal with the villain felt a bit antisemitic, which was uncomfortable.
Definitely a mixed bag, but I want to keep reading and see where they go with it.

Good continuation. I quite like that the Grim is now named Ruth and will be around more! The last chapter with Chise going back to the dragon nest and seeing Nevin's tree was sweet. I also hope that Elias starts sharing more with Chise soon though
A little slower than the others but i still enjoyed it.
Ruth!
This one was less sad then the last one was, this was more like an explanatory volume with some quality moments of Chise getting character development, like when she gets Ruth as a familiar and when she starts to somewhat realize that she likes Elias as a companion but you know. Emotions are hard and she has a lot of them.
And now she gets to hear a story from Linden and some crazy little brat isn't trying to kill everyone in the area! Just some good old family bonding! We love to see it!
