I love a new Holmes Story and sadly there are not many good ones out there.
This book has 3 Holmes stories and most reviews say that the first 2 are good while the last one is not.
The first 2 stories are both retellings of the Grimm Brothers stories of the Pied Piper of Hamelin and Rumpilstiltskin respectively.
In the first story - the Irregulars are spelled to follow the new "Pied Piper" and Holmes has to travel to Rotterdam in Holland to rescue them.
In the second story, Holmes uses the new science of blood typing to discover who the new Squire is because his wife claims that the man who came home from the war is not her spouse.
The 3rd and last story is a Vampire (or Vampyre as they spelled it in the 1880s) story. I would call it more of a zombie story!! More like the Walking Dead and I have never been a fan of Zombies or of the Walking Dead!!! The only thing that was interesting about this 3rd story was the mention of Moriarty.
I would not be surprised if Moriarty had been the person who actually released the virus in the first place - the one that turned humans into vampyres - since he clearly has a means of preventing his own turning.
Otherwise these were OK stories. Short as always. Barely took me 45 minutes to read all 3 stories.
I do wish new Holmes authors could write decent full length novels.

Read the first two of the three stories and they were decently good. Had to bail on the final one though as it was some weird vampire story that opens with Watson drinking a cup of rat blood and lamenting that it doesn't taste as good as his fellow doctors and patients.
Playful stories, just out to have some fun. I'd characterize it as decent fanfiction. Okay for light bedtime reading. However, I would never recommend it to a purist who is looking for something that accurately emulates the Doyle originals.
fast-paced
1 - The Adventure of the Missing Irregulars
1895 Wiggins comes to Holmes for his help as his friends have disappeared.
2 - The Adventure of the Counterfeit Squire.
Mrs Heather Miller's husband has returned after the Great War badly burnt. But she is convinced that he is not her husband. She wishes Holmes to prove it.
3- The Adventure of the Tainted Blood
1892 An epidemic has spread from the continent affecting even Holmes and Watson - vampyre. Who can save the humans, or even the vampires.
An entertaining trio of well-written stories.
