I think this was the Hilda story I read in Dutch translation (with a stack of dictionaries at my side, it was a delightful way to learn some beginner's Dutch). I loved it and want to read the rest.

This was super cute. I liked how mundane, yet imaginative the story was.

class.

Charming and sweet, with adventure, fantasy, and humor. Bright, independent Hilda is an adventurer and an artist. She takes her lil fox pet Twig on walks in a natural landscape filled with fantasy and mythological creatures and comes home to her cozy house and loving mom (an artist?). It's very reminiscent of My Neighbor Totoro, which is one of my faves. Very short, glad there is a whole series to look forward to.

This is a really cute book. My daughter is 3 and loves reading Hilda, loves laughing at the Wood Man, loved speculating about the monster with "the hairy arms" who is lurking in the forest.

It's a sweet, age-appropriate story, and the comic book format makes for a great stepping stone to longer narratives. Big fan of these. Looking forward to reading more.

...that's it?
