Good short story taking place between Mentats of Dune and Navigators of Dune. It probably wouldn’t make much sense if read by itself outside the Schools of Dune trilogy, but it’s a nice add to that story arc.

I can see this short story will be unpopular among many, owing to its affiliation with the [b:Dune|234225|Dune (Dune Chronicles #1)|Frank Herbert|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1434908555s/234225.jpg|3634639] concept, but I for one really enjoyed it - it reminded me, for the five minutes it took to read, how rewarding good sci-fi can be.

Same old dumb characters doing dumb stuff, nothing to read here .

These short stories often give you little snippets of information about the next book. In this one is it no surprise to learn the Butlerian leader would rather let his followers die horribly from the Red Plague than let doctors in league with the now fugitive Josef Venport administer the vaccine.

A small window in to how the 2 extremes think and a great appetiser to the final book in this 3 book series The Schools of Dune
